Evening frenzy

Seated here in the evening breeze
surveying flowerbeds, counting the bees.
A sun still fiery hiding behind a cloud,
our wingéd visitors surging, slowly becoming a crowd.
Their delicate dance and fine balance,
whilst circling and diving, they advance.
The minutes tick by, others hearing their cry,
zooming in to where the nectar is high.

The frenzy begins as they empty the bins.
Filling their snouts, their backs
and sometimes the tips of their wings.
Then, taking off, hovering heavy
in pursuit of their next bevvy.
En route to a new spot they know,
will offer up their favourite shot!
