My secondhand textile garden.

Signed up as volunteer,
I peruse the landscape before starting to clear.
To create a high border vibrant and proud,
this muddled plot first needs to be ploughed!

First out are the curtains that I rake into line,
weeding through the colours one at a time.
Next task,
dig out some cushions and shake them back into form.
Before grouping together into a cohesive swarm.
Spading deeply into cartons,
I harvest plaids and throws.
In order to decorate this space
with something 'early to show'.
Thinning out the neighbouring towels,
checking their softness on my cheeks.
I plant them into neat high piles,
before sorting through the sheets!

Here, taking aim, I throw them high,
to dangle like washing on the line.
Enticing our customers to peruse, if they choose,
as they casually meander by.

With duvets, eiderdowns and pillows to trim,
I snip out any damaged goods that arn't allowed in!
Seperating polyester from duck and goose down,
I place each sort into furrows, making it easy to be found!

Our visitor's senses further to tease,
a well filled atrium should please.
To show off age old but 'still going strong' weaves.
Linen, heavy cotton, silk and wool, now hanging in sheaves.
Gently swaying in their alloted plot,
this cool dell is always a favourite spot.

While our regulars dream of times gone by,
maybe somthing smaller will catch their eye?
For last but not least, huddled in a crowded bed,
there is an abundant spread, where they may tread.
Offering crochet runners, napkins and placemats,
pinafores, teatowels and some 'all that jazz'!
We hope your drop-in to our bounteous yard
hasn't put you in to much of a quandry.
And that you will enjoy the 'blooms' you have found,
in our secondhand, fertile, climate smart haberdashery!

Welcome back!
