Women don’t grow older ….

''Women don't grow older,
they just discover themselves'',
words I once saw on birthday card shelves.
With slow awareness of our existentiality,
as time goes by, I tend to agree.

Still clinging onto what we have been,
while glimpsing towards future dreams.
The he and she gender once such a mess
slowly arrange themselves into roles, like chess!

This board called life where balance is fine,
our opposite's complementing and entwine.
A perfect solution allowing everything to work,
the raising of a curtain, on one of life's quirks.
This new wisdom, precious in autumn years,
when age draws us closer and weakness appears.

For regardless of our pre-requisites
when entering the ring,
exchanges of help from both sides will bring.
The care, attention, support and help,
one to the other with no 'under the belt'!
Providing us with humour when moods are dour,
positive comments to sweeten the sour.

Both genders carefully avoiding
the bumps and hard places
by employing the positive tools
from our DNA traces!

representing a gateway to knowledge maybe?
